INCI: emulsifying wax (Glyceryl Stearate and PEG-100 Stearate)

This emulsifying wax works wonderfully for combining oils and water into a stable emulsion. It can be used to make viscous (thick) or thin emulsions, depending upon the concentration at which it is used.

When using this Emulsifying Wax, it is important to melt the wax and generate the oil/water bond. The thickness of your product will be determined by the amount of water and the additives included in your formulation. It could involve a bit of trial and error.

The appearance of emulsifying wax is best described as white waxy flake chunks.

When storing emulsifying wax, it is important to keep it in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry location. Temperatures over 32 degrees Celsius may cause the wax to coagulate.

THIS IS NOT POLAWAX CHECK INCI

Published by JEAN ALTHOFF on 5th Jun 2020

I have read the reviews in relation to previous customer experience in this product which is being listed as EMULSIFYING WAX similar to POLARWAX. Of course people will be disappointed - it is important to list this emulsifying wax by INCI ingredients - which is clearly stated in the description. Polawax and Emulsifying Wax NF have quite a lot in common in terms of feel and thickening speed, while Glyceryl stearate/PEG-100 stearate stands off on its own and has a better feel. BUT would make fluffier but liquid lotion if you do not add cetyl alcohol or cetearyl alcohol. See what I mean - apart from Polarwax and Emulsifying Wax NF - which are really similar - any other emulsifying wax MUST be listed with the correct INCI ingredients so the user can adjust the formula correctly. In fact - in Australia apart from 2 other suppliers it is really hard to buy Glyceryl stearate/PEG-100 stearate. As I write this review - one supplier is out of stock which only leaves one other supplier. There are a lot of formulators in Australia that would buy Glyceryl stearate/PEG-100 stearate if it was available - and at the moment your version of Generic Emulsifying Wax is cheaper than the other one listed with the correct inci. In short - you can swap Polarwax and Emulsifying Wax no problem, at all. However, Glyceryl stearate/PEG-100 stearate is a superior (and more expensive) emulsifier if it is used correctly in a formulation. And, one more thing - Glyceryl stearate/PEG-100 stearate is a very popular cosmetic ingredient. >>>>>>N-essentials response: Thanks Jean for redirecting people to the product description and the correctly stated INCI name. We have since taken out the comparison to Polawax as that may have led people to believe that this product is Polawax (which it is not).

I bought 1Kg of Emulsifying Wax in replacement for beeswax that i usually use successfully, based on the fact that all the forums say emulsifying wax is best. My experience has been devastating. The wax is useless in the proportions given in any said recipe. i end up melting it down and adding beeswax to the brew. what a waste of time and money!!! i should ask for a refund.

Bring back the POLARWAX . This other wax is just not working rather pay more to get the recipe right. >>>>>>N-essentials: The polawax has a different formulation to this emulsifying wax. If you haven't already, perhaps experiment by altering your recipe .... In the meantime, we'll try to see if we can source the Polawax again. It may be some time yet given the way the exchange rate is.
